  • No Social Media Before Age 16: We pledge that our children will not have access to personal social media accounts until at least the age of 16. This includes, but is not limited to: Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Cover Star, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Truth Social, CapCut, Threads, Discord, etc. My child agrees to report anything dangerous or threatening happening on any tech platform including, but not limited to, text chains, social media, video games, etc.

  • Annual Review & Adaptation: We will revisit this decision annually as new research and expert guidance emerge.

  • Education Over Restriction: We commit to actively educating our children on why we’ve made this choice—emphasizing mental health, brain development, and healthy/respectful digital habits and etiquette.

  • Unified Support System: We will support each other as a parent community to uphold this pledge, fostering open dialogue and mutual accountability along the way.

  • Exceptions: We understand that some current school related activities and sports promote the use of social media for team communications. We accept that social media use, currently, will be used only for the purpose of this activity and sport communication. We commit to working with Edina Public Schools, parents and coaches to encourage team communication be moved to a text thread or email instead of social media.
